Ask every supplier the same question: what exactly happens when I call at 5 p.m. on a Friday with a dead beam? Will someone answer? Will they ship the spare part tonight? That difference is worth a place in the comparison.

For hobby and craft work, the budget laser can be a fine first machine. Wood laser cutter projects are a great place to learn. If a deadline slips, the only penalty may be your own schedule. For that use, the low initial investment often beats the industrial option.

But if customers are involved, or if you use submitted photos and expected quality, I would buy the industrial laser photonics system with the best service and repeatability you can afford. The question is not whether the budget machine can do the work once. It is whether it will still be doing the work at 2 a.m. when the order has to leave at sunrise. In my experience, that is where the best value shows up.
